Aluglass Bautech’s Variflex® mobile acoustic partition is a perfect example of a practical solution for Old Mutual Stella Road in Sandton. Some meetings need a large space to accommodate many people and some meetings need less space for fewer people. Here, the flexibility of the Variflex® system is ideal!

The existing large area is divided into 5 smaller areas by this partition system. Individual elements are sturdy and once locked and sealed into place, have a sound insulation of approximately 48dB. This enables meetings to be held simultaneously next to each other. When a different sized room is needed, one or more partition walls can be parked away or when the full-sized area is required, the top-hung elements are easily moved on an overhead track – requiring no floor tracks, and positioned neatly into either parking areas or neatly to one side of the room.

The large Variflex® acoustic partitions is 24 meters in length and the other 4 partition walls, that join the main wall, vary between 10.3 meters and 12 meters long. All have a height of 3.585 meters. The specified finish was a perforated white oak veneer over faded green fabric to suit the corporate colours of Old Mutual.

To complete the ACOUSTIC TREATMENT SOLUTIONS, more than 7 Varikust®VK105 acoustic doors with a sound insulation of 48dB were also installed. These acoustic single and double doors with a height of 2.7 meters are finished in a white oak veneer.
